Kondalilla Falls

Just minutes from the cottages, Kondalilla Falls is one of the Sunshine Coast’s most breathtaking natural wonders — a stunning 90-metre waterfall surrounded by ancient subtropical rainforest.

The Walk

The Kondalilla Falls circuit is a 4.7-kilometre loop trail that takes you through lush subtropical rainforest, past a series of rock pools, and down to the base of the spectacular falls. The trail is well-maintained with steps and boardwalks, though the descent to the base is steep in places — wear good shoes and take your time.

The walk takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to complete at a leisurely pace. Along the way, you’ll pass through towering stands of flooded gums, brush box and piccabeen palms. The canopy is alive with birdlife — listen for the distinctive call of the whipbird echoing through the gullies.

The Swimming Hole

At the top of the falls, a beautiful natural rock pool offers a refreshing dip on warm days. Surrounded by smooth granite boulders and dappled forest light, it’s one of the hinterland’s best-kept secrets. Pack a towel and allow extra time — you won’t want to leave.

Getting There

Kondalilla National Park is located just 15 minutes from Montville Ocean View Cottages. Head toward Montville village and follow the signs to Kondalilla Falls Road. There’s a car park at the trailhead with picnic tables and facilities. Entry to the park is free.
