If you’re after that iconic Sunshine Coast beach experience, Mooloolaba is hard to beat. The beach is famous for its soft sand, clear water, and a beautiful curved bay that’s perfect for swimming.
With patrolled swimming areas and a buzzing esplanade lined with cafes, restaurants, and ice cream shops. You can start the day with a swim, grab a coffee overlooking the ocean, and maybe treat yourself to fish and chips by the beach.
Alexandra Headland – For the wave lovers
Just a little further along the coast you’ll find Alexandra Headland, often called ‘Alex’ by locals. This spot is popular with surfers thanks to its consistent waves, but it’s also a great place to relax and watch the action from the grassed headland. There’s a fantastic oceanfront park area here too, making it perfect for a picnic or a relaxed afternoon by the sea.
Maroochydore Beach – Space to breathe
If you enjoy long walks along the sand, Maroochydore Beach is a great choice. The beach stretches for kilometres, which means you can usually find a quiet spot even on busier days.
It’s also close to Cotton Tree, a lovely little area where the river meets the ocean. Think shady picnic spots, calm water, and great cafes nearby.
Coolum Beach – A local favourite
Coolum has a relaxed coastal vibe that many visitors fall in love with. The beachis wide and beautiful, the surf is often great, and the surrounding cafes and restaurants have a laid-back feel that perfectly suits a beach day.
If you’re feeling energetic, you can also take a short walk up nearby Mount Coolum (which you can see from Montville Ocean View Cottages) for one of the most spectacular views on the Sunshine Coast.
Noosa Main Beach – A little slice of paradise
No list of Sunshine Coast beaches would be complete without Noosa Main Beach. With its gentle waves, golden sand, and iconic national park backdrop, it’s easy to see why this beach is so popular.
After a swim, take a stroll along Hastings Street for boutique shopping, lunch by the water, or why not another coffee.
